Your visual eye and taste as a photographer are not formed in a vacuum. They’re shaped by what you experience, the people and places around you, and what you choose to notice, often without even realising it.
Across two intimate, back-to-back talks, Adama Jalloh and Ashmond Oppong will explore what has informed their distinct styles, sharing the creative decisions, risks and turning points that have shaped their work.
Adama Jalloh is a Sierra Leonean-British documentary and portrait photographer whose work builds a sustained visual record of race, identity and culture across London. Rooted in her experience growing up in the city, she captures moments of intimacy, honesty and vibrancy. Her practice spans a British Journal of Photography Breakthrough Award, a permanent acquisition by the National Portrait Gallery, and commissions for British Vogue, Nike and The New York Times.
Ashmond Oppong is a fashion and lifestyle photographer based in Accra, Ghana, whose work is rooted in the belief that every image should tell a story. Drawing from the people, culture and energy around him, his bold visual storytelling has led to directing a global Jordan Brand x Nike collaboration, photographing artists including Mr Eazi and Gyakie, and exhibiting solo work from Accra to New York City.
Together, they’ll explore how you can draw from your own influences and experiences to develop a visual language that feels distinctly yours and make the work you want to be known for.
Each talk will be followed by an audience Q&A.
